چکیده

Objectives: To evaluate the incidence, management, and outcome of visceral artery aneurysms (VAA) over 5. years in our institution, a tertiary care centre, Madras Medical College. Methods 14 patients with 19 VAA were analysed according to location, diameter, aneurysm type, aetiology, rupture, outcome. Results: localised at splenic artery, coeliac trunk, renal hepatic superior mesenteric other locations. The aetiology was mostly degenerative, connective tissue disease. rate rupture higher pseudo-aneurysms than true (66% vs 5%). 18 treated by intervention {coil embolisation} (n=3) or surgery (n=9) hybrid [n=1] one patient managed conservatively. Three cases ruptured on an emergency basis. largest about 16cm smallest 1mm . After interventional treatment, 30-day mortality 21.4 % compared no non-ruptured cases. Follow-up included USG and/or CT after mean period 7 months. current status obtained structured telephone survey. Conclusions: There is increase incidence Celiac SMA aneurysms. Aneurysm size seems be reliable predictor for rupture. Young need vasculitic workup further management.

Ruptured visceral artery aneurysms.

Visceral artery aneurysms are uncommon lesions that are rarely identified in the absence of symptoms. Between February 1972 and April 1992, nine patients (5 men and 4 women) with rupture of visceral artery aneurysms were treated. The average age was 62 years old (range 39 to 86 years old). The arteries involved were the splenic (4), the common hepatic (2), the left hepatic (1), the celiac (1), ...

Visceral Artery Aneurysms

In clinical practice relatively rare vascular entity, visceral artery aneurysms (VAA) can thrombose, embolise and rupture, causing high morbidity and mortality [1]. Splanchnic aneurysms pose a difficult therapeutic challenge especially in emergency cases. Almost 22% of VAA patientswith mortality as high as 8.5%,are diagnosed after rupture with variable clinical manifestations that raise the ris...

Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysms Presenting with Epistaxis - Our Experience and Review of Literature.

AIM Intracranial internal carotid artery aneurysms are an extremely rare cause of spontaneous epistaxis, with a few documented cases. The management of such cases is challenging due to the relative anatomical inaccessibility of the bleeding point. The aim of the present study was to acquaint the readers with this rare type of aneurysm presenting with epistaxis and to report our experience of tr...
